Barcelona Vooruit Lamine Yamal will miss the visit to Newcastle United in the Champions League on Thursday with a groin injury, the Spanish club said when it announced the team that had traveled for his competition phase -opener in St. James’ Park.
Yamal sustained the injury while he had international service with Spain and Barca boss Hansi Flick closed the national team because he did not take better care of the 18-year-old, who also missed La Liga’s victory over Valencia.
Apart from Yamal, who started the season strongly with two goals and two assists in La Liga, Barcelona said on Wednesday that Alejandro Bald and Gavi are also out of a long-term absent Marc-Andre ter Stegen, but Frenkie de Jong is available.
Barca was eliminated in the semi -finals in the past term, while Newcastle is back in the Champions League after he had not qualified for last season’s competition.
