Barcelona announced on Thursday that Dutch midfielder Frenkie de Jong will be out for up to six weeks due to a leg problem.
De Jong will miss the last 16 of the Champions League against Paris Saint-Germain or Newcastle United, as well as La Liga matches with Villarreal, Athletic Bilbao, Sevilla and Rayo Vallecano.
The 28-year-old will also be absent for the second leg of the Copa del Rey semi-final next Tuesday as the Catalans look to overturn a 4-0 deficit to Atletico Madrid.
In a brief statement on its website, Barcelona said De Jong had injured his right hamstring during training this morning and will be out for five to six weeks rfv4.
Barcelona is just one point ahead of Real Madrid before hosting Villarreal on Saturday.
De Jong will be sidelined during the March international break when the Dutch team take on Norway and Ecuador in the pre-World Cup friendlies.
