Former Real Madrid immediately returned Lucas Vazquez until 2027 came to Bayer Leverkusen, the German club announced on Tuesday.
The five-time winner of the Champions League joins a free transfer, because he was a free agent since his Madrid contract has expired in the summer.
The 34-year-old completed a medical in Madrid and stands in line to play in the next game of Leverkusen, away from Werder Bremen on Saturday.
In a statement, Vazquez said that he «looks forward to continuing my career at Leverkusen».

Vazquez unveiled former Leverkusen coach and current real manager Xabi Alonso and one-off Leverkusen player Dani Carvajal, who is now in Madrid, helped him to convince himself to join the German side.
«With Lucas Vazquez we sign an extremely experienced player who has won everything to win with Real Madrid in the last ten years,» said Leverkusen -sports director Simon Rolfes, the adding of the newcomer would be «a pillar» of the side.
Leverkusen was looking for a right back after the move from Jeremie Frimpong to Liverpool at the end of last season.
Apart from a short stint at Espanyol, Vazquez spent his entire career with Real Madrid and won four La Liga titles.
The arrival of Trent Alexander-Arnold at Real meant that Vazquez was lower in the pecking order, but the nine times covered Spanish player wanted to continue his career.

Florian Wirtz, Granit Xhaka and Frimpong all left for the Premier League, Jonathan Tah joined competition divisions Bayern Munich and coach Xabi Alonso moved to Real Madrid.
