Bayern Munich receives a fine of 116,000 euros and partial stadium closure by UEFA

Bayern Munich was the most heavily sanctioned club in UEFA’s latest disciplinary measures announced on Wednesday, receiving a total of 116,000 euros ($136,300) in fines and a partial closure of the stadium for the next Champions League home match.

Bayern was charged with blocking public passages and setting off fireworks in the match against Sporting earlier this month.

As a result, UEFA ordered the implementation of a previously suspended penalty, resulting in the partial closure of sectors 111 to 114 at the Allianz Stadium for Bayern’s next UEFA home match – against Union Saint-Gilloise on January 21.

Bayern was also imposed a partial stadium closure of the entire South Stand for a subsequent match, but this additional closure will be suspended for a trial period of two years.

Additional fines followed Bayern’s defeat to Arsenal last month.

UEFA has fined the German club 40,000 euros for disrupting the crowd and throwing objects, as well as 30,000 euros for “conveying messages inappropriate for a sporting event”.

Meanwhile, UEFA’s Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body also ordered the maintenance of a previously suspended sanction against Eintracht Frankfurt, banning the German club from selling tickets to its away fans for the next match.

Frankfurt was charged after fans threw objects, set off fireworks and caused damage to the Camp Nou stadium when they lost 2-1 to Barcelona last week. It then plays against the Azerbaijani Qarabag.

Frankfurt was fined a total of 38,000 euros, while it was also given 30 days to contact Barcelona to settle the damage caused by its supporters in the away toilets.
