Bayern Munich’s rising star Lennart Karl has been ruled out of the Champions League second leg against Real Madrid due to a right hamstring injury.
Bayern said on Friday that 18-year-old Karl – who has enjoyed a breakthrough season with the Bavarian superpower – tore a muscle in the back of his right thigh and «will therefore be sidelined for the time being.»
The club did not provide further details.
Karl will miss Saturday’s Bundesliga match at St. Pauli and the visit of Real Madrid for the second leg of the Champions League quarter-final on Wednesday. Bayern won the first leg in Madrid 2-1 on Tuesday.

His participation in Bayern’s next matches against Stuttgart in the Bundesliga on April 19 and the German Cup semi-final against Bayer Leverkusen three days later is in doubt, while German coach Julian Nagelsmann will check Karl’s fitness ahead of the World Cup after making his Germany debut last month.
Karl has scored five goals and set up a further five goals in the Bundesliga this season, while scoring four goals and providing two assists in the Champions League.
