Manchester City Director of Football Txiki Begiristain left the Premier League outfit after 13 years and will be succeeded by Hugo Viana van Sports, the club announced on Thursday.
The 60-year-old Spaniard has been an important part of a trophy-loaded period for the city in which it won seven Premier League titles, two FA Cups, a Champions League and a Club World Cup.
Earlier until 2010, Begiristain served for seven years as football director of Barcelona.
His departure from the Etihad asked questions about the future of manager Pep Guardiola in the club.
Begiristain and Guardiola have worked closely in the city. The current contract of the 54-year-old Guardiola ends after this season and the plans of the Spaniard remain uncertain.
