Indian Super League (ISL) Kant Bengaluru FC has mutually separated for separate with striker Edgar Mendez, the club announced on Saturday.
Necaxa, after a free transfer from the Mexican side, scored the 35-year-old from the Mexican side, scored the 35-year-old 10 goals and helped four more when the Blues finished third in the regular season and reached the final of the ISL Cup, where they lost 1-2 in extra time in extra time.
«Bengaluru FC and Edgar Méndez have mutually agreed to separate. The BFC family thanks the Spaniard for his contribution to the club and wishes him the very best for the future,» the club said in a statement.
The exit comes at a time when there is no confirmation about the data of the new ISL season and several clubs have temporarily suspended the activities.
«Running and maintaining a football club in India has always been a tough climb, one that we have put everything aside and made, season after season. However, the lack of clarity about the future of the competition leaves us no choice but to take this step,» the club said earlier this month in a statement.
«The future and well -being of our players, employees and their families is of the utmost importance for us, and we have contact with them while we are waiting for a resolution,» the club added.
“The club continues to work for growing and developing sport and our activities with our youth teams – men and women, and BFC football schools remain unaffected by this decision.
«We insist on the AIFF (All India Football Federation) and FSDL to quickly end this impasse. The uncertainty does not improve anyone and a rapid resolution is of vital importance for the future of Indian football,» the ISL side added.
Mendez will be the eighth player who leaves the club this summer, after Jorge Pereyra Diaz, Harsh Patre, Alberto Noguera, Pedro Capo, Jessel Carneiro, Aleksandr Jovanovic and Halicharan Narzary (loan).
