Big sky country

From the Chief Mountain border crossing, the trail descends 700 feet to the valley floor and then follows the Belly River south. I emerged from a layer of low cloud after descending about 200 feet and headed back to Gable Creek at slow speed. The road was drier and the air warmer for my return trip, even though the solid layer of cloudy skies showed no signs of dissipating.
