Botafogo Sacks Manager Renato Paiva Na Fifa Club World Cup 2025 Exit

Botafogo fired manager Renato Paiva after his FIFA Club World Cup 2025 exit from pre-quarterfinals, the Brazilian club announced Monday

The Paiva team went out in the last 16-phase with a loss of 1-0 after extra time to fellow Brazilian club Palmeiras, and the manager paid the price after just four months.

Botafogo took attention to the Club World Cup when it defeated the UEFA Champions League winner Paris St Germain with 1-0 in the group stage, who had previously defeated Seattle Sounders, and it continued as a group B second despite a 1-0 defeat by Athletico Madrid.

«The club thanks Paiva and its assistants for their services to Botafogo in recent months,» said a club statement on social media.

«Especially for the historical victory against Paris Saint-Germain in the club World Cup and the qualification for the round of 16 of the (Copa) Libertadores and Copa do Brasil.»
