Break – Fox AT Thru Hike – Day 34

Boots Off really helped me this morning. Noticing my limp, they offered to take me to the emergency room. I was transferred to Johnson City and after some inquiring at the first clinic, we found a location with on-site imaging. The images on the site are important because I cannot drive to multiple locations to get tested. The doctor said the main concerns are leg cramps and clots. The x-ray ruled out an avulsion, where the tendon tears off part of the bone. X-ray cannot rule out stress fractures.

None of those three possible diagnoses suggest getting back on track. Red’s family was in Johnson City, so after a quick stop at Food City, I headed home with them. Lihat juga as9kl. I enjoy hanging out with them and I have a positive side. The rest of the day I spent as much as I could.

The next day, I devised a usability test. I walked fifteen minutes along the porch without a backpack. Depending on how the pain progressed, I could make a decision on how to proceed. Oh, the optimism! 15 minutes! Turns out I can’t walk for five minutes… on flat ground, without a backpack. This will not heal in a day or a week. It was time to return home for a longer recovery.

I’m at home as I write this. My primary care doctor ruled out a stress fracture and clots. Based on the current progression of recovery, I plan to return to the trail in a few weeks. When I get back on the trail, I have to take shorter days and build up more slowly. This timeline still works for me to finish my hike. On the other side, I can interview in person for paramedic school.

The blogs will also stop, but I hope to see the entries resume when I get back on the trail.
