Bayern Munich overtook 10-man Borussia Mönchengladbach 4-1 on Friday to extend its lead at the top to 14 points in the 2025-2026 Bundesliga.
Even without injured star striker Harry Kane, it was one-way traffic from the start as four different goalscorers were on target for Bayern.
Full of confidence after last week’s 3-2 win over second-placed Borussia Dortmund, Vincent Kompany’s men were once again in ruthless form.
The Bavarians, who face Atalanta in the first leg of the Champions League on Tuesday, are now on 66 points in the Bundesliga with nine games to play.
Borussia Dortmund, at 52, will be in action against Cologne on Saturday iop10.
«If Harry is out, we have other boys who can score the goals. Today we scored four,» said Bayern coach Kompany.
«Apart from the goal we conceded in the end, it was perfect. We showed good intensity. The boys who were on the pitch showed why they deserve to play.» They rose to the occasion and did not disappoint,” he added.
Asked if Kane would be ready for next week’s Champions League match, Kompany said: «Hopefully. If he makes it then great. Otherwise we’ll do it with the guys we have.»

Luis Diaz, the competition’s second-best scorer, opened Bayern’s scoring in the 33rd with a brilliant volley for his 14th goal of the campaign, before Konrad Laimer doubled the lead at half-time.
Things got worse for Gladbach in the 55th when Rocco Reitz was sent off with a straight red card for a foul on Nicolas Jackson in the penalty area. In Kane’s absence, it was Jamal Musiala who stepped up and converted the penalty to make it 3-0.
It was Musiala’s first competitive goal since returning from injury in January after breaking his leg in July 2025, with the German midfielder desperate for some much-needed match training ahead of the World Cup starting in June.
«It feels good. It was my third start – the first time over 90 minutes. I’m happy,» said man-of-the-match Musiala. ‘With games like that I can get back into the rhythm.’
Jackson also got on the scoresheet in the 79th, tapping in Lennart Karl’s cutback, before Gladbach scored a late consolation goal in the 89th with substitute Wael Mohya.
