Bundesliga 2025-26: Bayern Munich tests perfect record against unbeaten Borussia Dortmund

Bayern Munich’s perfect run in the Bundesliga faces the toughest test of the season so far when unbeaten Borussia Dortmund visit the champions in ‘Der Klassiker’ on Saturday.

The Bavarians have won all ten of their matches in all competitions and sit top of the Bundesliga with 18 points, four points ahead of second-placed Dortmund.

Vincent Kompany’s team has now won six league victories and scored an average of more than four goals per match.

Top scorer Harry Kane is in brilliant form having already made 11 appearances in the competition, and the England captain also scored twice in a 5-0 win over Latvia on Tuesday to seal his place in the 2026 World Cup.

New signing Luis Diaz has integrated seamlessly into the Bayern team, adding another five league goals and four assists, but both forwards will have their work cut out for them against Dortmund, who have conceded one goal in their last five Bundesliga games.

The Ruhr area club has become Bayern’s main title rival under coach Niko Kovac, with a defensive strength and stability that was lacking in previous seasons.

Dortmund also has a lightning-fast attack, led by Serhou Guirassy and Karim Adeyemi. The side’s last two visits to the Allianz Arena have seen a win and a draw, but Kovac said Bayern remained overwhelming favorites on Saturday.

«I hope that now, in Munich, it will be a positive experience for us. Especially because Bayern are clearly the top favorites,» said Kovac.

«We are a big club… but Bayern are the record champions. They are by far the team with the most titles. Bayern are on a different level,» he added.

Dortmund will look to set an early milestone in the season and close the gap with Bayern.

«With a good result we may be able to close the gap. With a draw we will remain four points behind. There is a lot at stake, because if you achieve a good result against a direct competitor, it can count double,» said Kovac.
