Unbeaten Bayern Munich overcame hosts Heidenheim 4-0 on Sunday to go into the winter break with a nine-point lead at the top of the Bundesliga standings.
The Bavarians, who have gone through 2025 without an away league loss, are on 41 points, while Borussia Dortmund are second on 32 after Friday’s 2-0 win over Borussia Mönchengladbach. Struggling Heidenheim is in 17th place out of 11.
From the start it was one-way traffic for Vincent Kompany’s team, despite missing the injured Joshua Kimmich, Manuel Neuer and the suspended Konrad Laimer. It took a 15 minute lead through Josip Stanisic’s header from close range at the far post, after Heidenheim keeper Diant Ramaj failed to clear Jonathan Tah’s header.

The visitor doubled his advantage in the 35th with an almost identical move after once again catching Heidenheim’s defense, with Michael Olise tapping in the far post.
Bundesliga top scorer Harry Kane rattled the post with a fine solo effort and a low shot before Heidenheim substitute Stefan Schimmer responded by hitting the crossbar with the hosts’ best chance.
Schimmer should have done better in the 78th, as only Bayern’s Jonas Urbig could be beaten, but he struck straight at the keeper. Bayern scored again with Luis Diaz’s diving header in the 86th minute and Kane still had time to get on the scoresheet with a fine move into the penalty area deep into stoppage time for his 19th league goal of the season.
The competition will resume on January 9.
