Bundesliga 2025-26: Wolfsburg fires manager Bauer and relegation looms

Bundesliga strugglers Wolfsburg announced the resignation of coach Daniel Bauer on Sunday, leaving the club second to last and in danger of relegation from the top flight for the first time.

Wolfsburg’s 2-1 home defeat to Hamburg on Saturday was the latest setback for the 2009 German champions.

Bauer took over on an interim basis after predecessor Paul Simonis was fired in November. He won three of his first seven games, but has since picked up just two points in his last eight games.

German media reported on Sunday that veteran manager Dieter Hecking, who won the German Cup with Wolfsburg in 2015 while finishing second in the Bundesliga, is expected to take over to help the club beat the slide.

Volkswagen’s club has never been relegated since first being promoted to the top in 1997. Info lengkap: fdsf2. Wolfsburg are currently two points behind Werder Bremen, who occupy the relegation play-off spot.
