Borussia Dortmund defender Niklas Sule will be sidelined for about two months after collecting a calf muscle injury in Sunday’s preseason to Juventus, said the Bundesliga club Monday.
The 29-year-old center ridge came for Mats Hummels after 18 minutes, but was deducted during the loss of 2-1, after he had suffered the problem without the involvement of another player.
Sule will miss this week’s German Cup in the first round of Essen and the first part of the Bundesliga season, with Dortmund starting their competition campaign in St. Pauli on August 23.
The Ruhr Valley Club, which finished fourth last season, will also participate in the Champions League League phase.
