Bundesliga Transfer News: Reyna trades Dortmund for Gladbach who pursues ‘new chapter’

United States Vooruit Giovanni Reyna became a member of Borussia Monchengladbach until 2028 after six years at Buren Borussia Dortmund, the sales club confirmed on Saturday.

German tabloid Child Gladbach reported to seven million euros ($ 8 million) for the 22-year-old attacking midfielder, with Dortmund gaining a 15 percent clause.

Reyna thanked Dortmund and said he was looking forward to a «new chapter» at Gladbach.

Once considered the next great football hop of the United States, Reyna’s career got stuck at Dortmund because he struggled with injuries and a lack of playing time.

Last season, Reyna played 26 times in all competitions, scored twice, but only five of those performances had started.

«We have a long history with Gio,» said Dortmund -sports director Sebastian Kehl in a statement, and added: «Unfortunately, his development in the past season was not advanced as hoped.

In total, Reyna played 106 times for Dortmund in the Bundesliga and scored 15 times.

Reyna was used as an attacker, winger or an attacking midfielder and has played 32 times and scored eight goals for the United States.
