Callum Wilson leaves Newcastle as a free agent

Former striker of England, Callum Wilson, confirmed his departure from Newcastle after his contract had expired at the end of the season.

«It’s time to say goodbye after an incredible few years in the tone,» said 33-year-old Wilson, who is a free agent, in a statement.

The striker, who also played in the Premier League for Bournemouth, joined Newcastle for 20 million pounds ($ 27 million) in 2020 and scored 49 goals in 130 performances.

«I am so proud that I have worn the iconic number 9 shirt and added some more history to it. Scoring at the Gallowgate one is really as special as they say,» Wilson said.

Wilson had an injury-driven campaign last season, but still made 22 performances, including a replacement in Newcastle’s victory in Newcastle against Liverpool, who ended the 70-year-old waiting of the club for a large domestic trophy.

«We were strong together because of the highlights and a few lows to help the club experience new heights,» he said.
