Canadian teams to set off for FIFA World Cup 2026 matches


The Toronto Argonauts and British Columbia Lions of the Canadian Football League will be on their way for home games next year, while their stadiums are hosts for World Cup matches.

The CFL and Clubs announced on Friday plans for home games in early 2026, while their stadiums are the beep for the World Cup, which is being played from 11 June to 19 July in the US, Canadian and Mexican locations.

The BMO field of Toronto organizes six World Cup competitions, including the first on Canadian soil on June 12, while seven games are disputed at the BC site of Vancouver, including two knockout competitions in July yfbr.

The Argonauts each play a game for regular season in Hamilton, Winnipeg and Regina, Saskatchewan against CFL rivals in those cities, while the World Cup is being played in Toronto.

The Lions will move two home games, but have not detailed which cities.

«The World Cup is a cultural event that unites entire countries and communities under one flag,» said CFL commissioner Stewart Johnston.

«While Toronto and Vancouver welcomes the world, we are grateful to other cities and their great fans that they are so generously a home of home for the Argonauts and the Lions.»
