CDT Days 49-51: Twin Lakes To Leadville

Catching others through

After almost 1,000 miles alone (I had walked about 20 miles with another human), I have reached the bubble of hikers. Shortly after getting into the twin lakes, two burritos in his hand, some other CDT hikers began to appear. Snoze, Sky and some others gathered around the table outside the general store to eat and chat, and talk about the four later. There was free coffee shop, and the satisfaction of sitting there under the clouds of July 4 and drinking it did not motivate us to continue. In the afternoon, I finally left, accepting to meet the Thruhikers in Leadville to share a room in the shelter.

Finally, I would finally reach Bullwinkle, who also began with the same ferry as me. After a thought, he agreed to camp on Mount Massive Trail Junction with me. We woke up lazy after 6 in the next morning, leaving around 7 am to the summit. The path to massive is well qualified and flows relatively fast by such a high peak.

Fourteen thousand feet again

The cheerful peaks greeted us at the end of the crest, where we reached the rocky point of 14,421 feet. This was my first four years since I had been in a bad car accident a few years ago, and felt like a massive milestone. Despite the thin air, I felt that I could breathe more freely than in a long time.

Returning to the camp at the bottom, it was absolutely drained and dehydrated. I was already beaten in the twin lakes and I had not had a rest day from paying, but I did not want to rest until after having enormous in mass. Then I decided that it was time to get to Leadville and rest that night, and not the next night as I had planned. So I took the path south of Lake Turquoise towards the point of hitch, the compensation is that I would have to walk around five miles of roads to connect to the path when I left again.

The head pain alive and well, was a hitch relievedly easy to the Leadville market and even after the store to the shelter to the shelter. Upon arriving at the shelter stunned and exhausted, I got into the backyard to search for cash of hikers (business first!) And I saw a large group of hikers scattered throughout the tables. I was too hungry to be social and I didn’t take it. Later, once I had my macaroni dish with family size cheese and some more water, I introduced myself and began to obtain some pieces of the mystery of who was in the CDT. To the animated and silly, the other hikers had walked to the top of Elbert that day with costumes they had obtained from the local second -hand store. They seemed relaxed about miles and more concerned with the funny culture of the path. It was finally comforting to be through the culture of life: it is where I feel more at home. I had planned to go to bed early, but I ended up potentially watching the worst movie never made with the group, laughing louder than me in a long time. Maybe in the middle of the path I will finally feel established in it 🙂
