Thuram grabs double while Inter Milan lit off Ajax
Marcus Thuram put two at the head goals when Inter Milan banished the demons of the final of last season and won the opening match of the new group campaign 2-0 away at Ajax Amsterdam.
Inter was hammered 5-0 by Paris Saint-Germain in the Final of May in Munich and came in the collision on Wednesday in the Johan Cruyff Arena after successive defeats in Serie A, but turned out to be too strong for his Dutch host with the French international central stage.
Thuram stole at the nearby pole, attacked Hakan Calhanoglu’s corner and the Ajax defenders stood in front of handing in a powerful header three minutes before the break to open the score.
His second goal came two minutes in the second half from another Calhanoglu corner, but this time it was central and climbed over the home defense to easily score.
