Champions League 2025-26: PSG Neverhelms Atalanta 4-0; Bodo/Glimt Snatches pull against Slavia Prague

Paris Saint-Germain continued where it had gone after the UEFA Champions League triumph of last season when it started his new campaign with an impressive 4-0 win over Atalanta in the Parc des Princes on Wednesday.

Marquinhos opened the score within the first three minutes, and PSG followed that with goals from Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Nuno Mendes and replacement Goncalo Ramos, who demonstrates his characteristic press and liquidability.

Bradley Barcola missed a penalty just before half-time, but it turned out to be a footnote, because the side of Luis Enrique underlined his status as a defending defender after the Inter Milan overpowered 5-0 in last season’s final.

The Ligue 1 champion will then be opposed to Barcelona in Camp Nou and Atalanta will organize the previous day Clubbrugge on 1 October.

PSG made a fast start when Captain Marquinhos crowded high and ended the movement he had launched for a third minute lead. The Brazilian forced Daniel Maldini to lose the ball, Fabian Ruiz crossed layer from the left and Marquinhos arrived to accompany it.

The French champion then showed the same pressure in the foot and fast combinations that defined his game last season.

Marquinhos chose Nuno Mendes with a diagonal ball, the fullback that arranged well in the box before he shot just wide from the distant pole with his weaker right foot.

Shortly thereafter, Ruiz was found on the right by a long pass and produced a neat rear wheel for Achraf Hakimi, whose first strike was diverted by goalkeeper Marco Carnesecchi on the basis of the utmost upright.

Atalanta gradually stabilized, but was undone when Kvaratskhelia burst to the area and a powerful shot passed the keeper for PSG’s second six minutes before the break.

PSG was given the chance to sharpen his grip on the tranquility of the rest, but Barcola wasted a penalty with a tame effort that was missing, making it easy to save Carnesecchi.

PSG extended his lead for six minutes in the second half when Barcola Mendes sent to the left. The fullback threw in a sham that put his defender down before sneaking the ball between the goalkeeper and the nearby pole – a finish as cheeky as the movement it created.

Joao Neves came to link, in another source of care for Luis Enrique, who re -ordered the absence of the wounded Ousmane Dembele and Douse Doue after PSG after PSG had restarted the season after a short break at the back of the World Cup club.

The midfielder was replaced by colleague Portuguese Ramos, who wrapped it for a minute in added time with a nice chip after he benefited from a defensive blunder.

Bodo/Glimt Snatches 2-2 draw with Slavia Prague

The Bodo/Glimt Van Norway took off a sensational comeback to pull 2-2 away to Slavia Prague in the first UCL group game in the history of the club on Wednesday, with replacement Sondre Brunstad Fet who was the equalizer to close another brave display.

After they made a remarkable run to the semi -final of the Europa League of last season, where they lost Tottenham Hotspur from the English side, the Norwegians started well, but they were punished in the 23rd minute when Fullback Youssoupha Mbodji was in the back post to tap Lukas Pass at home.

Glimt’s Danish striker Kasper Hogh had the opportunity to have been set up for nine minutes in the second half, but his penalty was saved, and that Miss turned out to be even more expensive when Mbodji stood home his second of the night in the 74th minute.

Anxiously, the Norwegian champion four minutes later withdrew a goal from Daniel Bassi and defended a storm from the home team before Brunstad Fet shot the equalizer in the bottom of the bar to grab an unlikely point.
