Cheese fondue for 2 – The walk

Switzerland until now

It is already day 8 and time is flying! With only 3 more days on the way before completing the loop. Hiking for Switzerland has its own unique vibes. We have walked through tons of small cities, the path has been much more wooded and there have been signs and statues carved throughout sections. Not to mention that our night views have been more imposing mountains than glaciers. The sun has been in full, making me appreciate to push the mileage in the morning and end the day just after lunch. Oh! But we swim in Champex Lake, which made a perfect boxes stop.

The path takes us through villages with old wooden buildings.

There is no tramilia here

In recent days, David and I have been in a bubble of two people. When we came to the way for the first time, I was not sure how the community of trails would be, or if the tramilias were even a possibility. So, like that, on day 2 we had made friends. But after walking together for a day, unfortunately we had to see them advance. During the first week he felt as if we made friends for a day or two, crossed routes here and there, until our schedules separated us.

The two being our own small hype team

Since I arrived in Switzerland, my social battery has exhausted. It was difficult to make all these little connections with people and not be able to turn them into solid friendships. While we continue to know people every day, I have lost the little feeling that I could be making friends that I will have forever.

In our second night in Switzerland, we were sitting at a round table with another 5 Thruhikers for dinner. While we all turn to wet the bread and potatoes in the cheese fondue while we make small conversations, eventually we all retire in our own small bubbles.

The wooded path between the FOULY and CHAMPEX-LAC

With less days ahead, I am curious to see who we could run like our two -walk back to France bubble.

They catch all the paths,

Roadie

PS: I would have taken a picture of the cheese fondue, but it does not look as appetizing as it is.
