I have not spoken much about my health in this open forum, and the good news is that until now, I have not had too many problems with the injuries since the road began. Touches wood. I am sure that it will surely happen.
But a problem that I have been dealing with are these painful injuries in my fingers. It began in early August in Oregon, for no apparent reason. The first place appeared on my middle finger and became an ulcerated sore that took weeks to heal.
Then, the new points continued to emerge, all in my left hand and all quite painful. They would heal, and I think it was clear only to have a new point form. The most recent place appeared suddenly as he walked to parking in Harts Pass to return home.
Surprisingly, I was able to see my general practitioner and the dermatologist with an extremely short warning. The diagnosis: Chilblains. They are associated with cold and humid in combination with poor circulation, at least this is what they tell me.
I wear gloves and waterproof on gloves. I will have more care when using them when it cools.
I think it is interesting that he has been backing on the cold and in the cold before without having them, so it may have something to do with the duration of the path and the general stress, or some other problem with the circulation in my left hand.
At least I know what it is, and I can try to avoid them in the future. You can imagine my medical mind by exploring all the possibilities in the endless miles, from cancer to fungal infection and tiles! The Chilblains make me feel a bit old, but it is a relief that is not something more serious.
