Club World Cup 2025: French Football Union Blast FIFA about «Massacre» by Player Welfare

The French Union of Professional Football Players (UNFP) launched a destructive attack on the club World Cup on Sunday and said that it is «urgent to stop this massacre» in the midst of continuous worries about extreme players’ workload.

The UNFP also accused FIFA president Gianni Infantino of life ‘in an ivory tower’ by ignoring the impact that overcrowded calendars have on players worldwide.

«The incongruence of the situation is not lost in anyone, except, of course, Gianni Infantino and his flattering.

«His (Infantino’s) Club World Cup proves, up to the point of absurdity, that it is urgent to stop this massacre game. He folds the physical and mental health of players for a few more dollars.»

The UNFP statement said that the club World Cup is coming at the end of an already tiring season and therefore «collective negotiating agreements (which) ignores almost everywhere, provides a non -sampractable three -week rest for football players between two seasons.»

Days before the start of the Month-Long Club World Cup, which ends on July 13, football chefs were confronted with renewed calls to protect players due to growing fears for injuries and burnout.

The new extensive tournament with 32 of the world’s best teams has had to deal with pushback since FIFA announced that it would be added to an already saturated calendar. The tournament is played every four years, sandwiched between the men’s world cup, the European Championship and Copa America.

It was against the background of legal challenges in Europe, strike threats and repeated concerns about the mental and physical well -being of players because of too many games.

«The UNFP, such as FIFPRO and FIFPRO Europe, has been protesting for years against the drastic increase in the workload,» the UNFP added. «But also against the harmful consequences for the domestic football of a calendar that FIFA is still alone in today’s construction.»

Last September the Midfielder of Manchester City Rodri rose a serious knee injury shortly after they said that players almost stopped about excessive workload.

Champions League winner Paris Saint-Germain is one of the largest parties involved in the World Cup club.

After winning the Champions League on 31 May, important PSG players such as Ousmane Dembélé and Désiré Doué played for France and then went to the United States for the Club World Cup shortly thereafter.

Some French clubs have already resumed the training for the upcoming Ligue 1 season, which starts mid-August, while others will start next week. PSG was unable to push its start back to the Ligue 1 season.

«We do not see how or why the Parisians should not benefit from the three weeks of complete rest they are entitled,» said the UNFP, adding that the toll of extra games for PSG’s players could influence the national team at the beginning of September.

«A delay in the preparation that should also be worried (France Coach) Didier Deschamps prior to two qualifying companies for the World Cup 2026,» said the UNFP before being closed. «What do you say, Mr. Infantino?»
