Cody Gakpo draws a new long -term contract with Liverpool

The Netherlands Vooruit Cody Gakpo has signed a new long-term contract extension with Liverpool, announced the Premier League side on Saturday.

Gakpo, who became a member of Liverpool in the Winter Transfer Vinders 2022-23 for about £ 37 million from PSV Eindhoven, has 42 goals and 16 assists in 131 performances for the Reds. After signing a first contract of two and a half years, he has now committed himself to a longer term of office, the club said in a statement.

«It feels great to expand the contract here at this beautiful club. I am very grateful and hopefully I can give back many more beautiful moments,» Gakpo told the club website.

«I feel at home, my family feels at home and that is always a big decision. They feel good. I am very happy in the club, a good group, good teammates, so life on football itself is very good and I enjoy every moment. I am very grateful that I can extend.»

Gakpo, who perform 40 for the Dutch national team, won the Premier League and the League Cup with the Reds and opened the 2025-26 season with a goal in their 4-2 victory in the Premier League opener.

«I think we have a very good team at the moment and we are trying to build on something special. Of course we won the competition last season, so we have to defend it with the best of our capacities,» said Gakpo.

«We also want to win the Champions League and the other cups, so that’s what we go for. For me personally I think I would continue to develop, so every year I have to be a better year than the year before. That’s what we strive for.»
