Community Shield 2025: tribute to former Liverpool -striker Diogo Jota disrupted at Wembley


A tribute to the former Liverpool -attacker Diogo Jota and his brother Andre Silva was disrupted on Sunday when some fans did not see for a moment at the Community Shield match.

Before the match between Liverpool and Crystal Palace near Wembley, both teams and their staff were quiet to commemorate the brothers – who died in a car – accident in Spain in July – but loud voices could be heard in the crowd, which put some anger.

Referee Chris Kavanagh then blew his whistle to indicate the end of the tribute.

This was Liverpool’s first big game since the death of Jota, who was 28.

The brothers died when the Lamborghini died of a road and burst into flames near the northwestern city of Zamora.

The Premier League champion made a number of tribute to Jota after his death, including the withdrawal of his No. 20 sweater.

Liverpool supporters started to cheer Jota when the game on Sunday fell 20 minutes and that applause quickly broke out when the new signing Jeremie Frimpong scored to set the Merseyside club with 2-1.

The Community Shield can be seen on the traditional curtain variety for the top season in England and is played between the defending champion and the winner of the FA Cup.
