Cristiano Ronaldo has become co-owner of the Spanish second division club UD Almeria and has purchased a 25 percent stake in the club wsx3.
The club announced the ownership on Thursday and welcomed the Portuguese legend on board.
«It has been an ambition of mine for a long time to contribute to football, also off the field,» Ronaldo said in a press release.
“UD Almeria is a Spanish club with strong foundations and clear growth potential. I look forward to working with the leadership team to support the club’s next phase of growth,” he added.
Meanwhile, the club’s chairman, Mohamed Al Khereiji, said: “We are very happy that Cristiano has chosen our club to invest in. He is considered the best player in history, knows Spanish football very well and understands the potential of what we are building here, both in terms of the first team and the youth academy.”
This agreement is part of the club’s international expansion that Al Khereiji is carrying out through its business conglomerate SMC Group.
