Cubas misses matches in Paraguay after passport ends up in the washing machine


Paraguayan midfielder Andres Cubas experienced a scenario every traveler fears when he left his passport in a pair of trousers, which ended up in the washing machine, forcing him to miss matches against the United States and Mexico.

Cubas, who plays for Canada’s Vancouver Whitecaps, missed both of Paraguay’s friendlies, losing 2-1 to the US on Saturday and winning 2-1 against Mexico on Tuesday.

«He messed up, he forgot it in his pants. And the lady who works there didn’t notice either, and they put them in the washing machine. He’s really annoyed,» the player’s father, Francisco Cubas, told ABC TV in Paraguay this week.

Andres managed to obtain a new passport but could not complete the visa process in time to leave Canada for the games, his father added.
