Day 108 near Shasta – The Trek

My watch of Clock Garmin died somewhere around Mile 19, so I did not get promotion data.

Walk in the morning and break

I quickly launched this day 108 near Shasta, some other hikers during the first miles while they were still in the camp. I made 13 miles at 12:00.

I took a 40 -minute break at Trough Creek. Trough Creek was not as cold as Gold Creek yesterday, but he still gives an ice bath for his money.

Plan walking 3.3 to Square Valley Creek, lunch and cool a little during heat (there is an extreme heat notice in the area). I will see how close I can get to Castella (where I have a refueling box), which would be 30 miles in the day.

What you can find under bridges

Trolls? Yes. But also traces magic.
Today, there were cans of tangerine oranges plus a variety of hikers of hikers: pop cakes, rice candy, gomites, electrolytes.

It was difficult after that stream. A 2000 feet rise began. And it was hot. It improved as the day progressed and cooled a little.

Bear

I saw my first bear around Mile 1489. I heard a noise under me next to the path. I looked and saw 2 bear puppies fleeing very quickly (they were one hundred yards to start). I started singing after that, so that Mom Bear had no doubt where he was.
