Day 11 – 20.8 Miles – July 19

Home: Mile 138.2

END: Mile 159

Total: 20.8 mi

Ascent: 4806 ‘

Descent: 4570 ‘

I woke up at 6:30 am, as typically, and I left at 7 am it was difficult to get up, it took me some time to sleep and, therefore, I did not sleep as much as I should.

Approximately half an hour on the day we met Punisher, a hiker who tried the triple crown of the calendar year this year! Most of the Sender of the Apalaches has already finished, and it has almost ended with the PCT, and then will go to the Continental Path Divide.

The morning was fresh and cloudy, while we headed a few thousand feet. Then we stopped for lunch along the path around 12:45 pm, at mile 150.2 (more than half of our miles planned for the day). It has been really pleasant to make more than half of the miles before lunch, it is an easy afternoon and an early night that I appreciate.

We met some people who headed to climb Glacier Peak, which was quite good, with all their technical team and things.

We arrive at Lake Sally Ann (Mile 159), around 5 pm and find an camping area. There were tons of people camping in this lake, I would estimate around 20 in several places. Many people making survivors and small loop walks, especially because it was a Saturday.

I got into the water (not all the way, but enough to wash), which felt very good. Then I did my dinner, a puree of potatoes with a fun flavor, and we ate together next to the water.

My place for the night, just above the lake

There were some insects in the lake, although not too many to bother me, and mostly they were small flies and non -mosquitoes, which is preferable. I brought the head network, what I have done several times, and that helped.

I also realized at this point that I didn’t have as much extra food as I thought I would do it for this section. My appetite is increasing (which is great!), So I will definitely need to obtain more food in my next replenishment in Stevens Pass.

I got into my store around 7:30 pm to relax a bit, and I relaxed that my store was still wet this morning. :/ Oh good.

I was also worried about finding a place tomorrow night, just because it is becoming much more busy as we approach the easiest entries in the area.

In general, a hard day, but happy to have found a good place to camp and have a decent climate.

See you in the next!
