The plan

The plan that we decided yesterday was to walk only to Twin Lakes today, only 7.5 miles, then make the 20 miles of Elkhorn’s crest. The thunderstorms were forecast for this afternoon. This plan would ensure that we were not on Elkhorn’s crest while exploding. The walk to Twin Lakes had a good elevation gain, so we were essentially elevating and mileage the second day. In addition, I wanted to stay close to my mileage goals and David had to be at home tomorrow night. In fact, I only had enough supplies for that, so we committed ourselves.

It was a humid start, but it is much easier to shake the spokes of the store when there are two people. The walk was impressive. At first we were on a road, but it was rude enough to feel more like a path. We were still in the mining country and there were current and old mines everywhere. Then, the road turned to the path and returned in the desert of North John Day during the room (or fifth?) This walk.

The forest was incredible. Gran Viejo Doug Fir, Western Lark, Grand Fir and Ponderosa Pine. As we were not in any great career, we took the time to completely enjoy the landscape. We were still talking a lot in the morning, it has been up to date with the life of the other, but I noticed that at noon we were talking less, immersing ourselves in place.

Near twin lakes.

Quite sure to spend the greatest Doug Fir in eastern Oregon.

Twin lakes

We arrived on Twin Lakes early in the afternoon and settled quickly because the skies seemed rebel. It was beautiful! And we had it for ourselves. There were no mountain goats even though they had assured us that we would definitely share the Cirque with them.

It was great to have an afternoon to relax. My legs surely appreciated the rest. They caught me in my diary and swam at the bottom of the twin lakes. Brrr. I am quite sure that the upper lake was warmer, so next time I would swim in that. The storm never hit us, but it was close. The clouds rolled on the crest while the sun vanished. We go to bed early, knowing that it would be a challenge for tomorrow to walk through the majority of the Elkhorn Crest path in a single day.

We had a beautiful show while the sun put on, highlighting dim and always changing clouds.
