Carbohydrates, coffee and back to the path!
We woke up at the usual time, between 5 and 5:30. After enjoying the last bits of the wonderful bed of our wonderful hostel, we slowly get up. I had a little organization to do and I went to drink a cup of coffee to encourage myself through the rest. It was from a local toaster; I know coffee and this was the good thing! Not only instant coffee that are barely dissolved in cold water. Dreams really come true.
Breakfast was organized and was an exclusive continental with many irresistible carbohydrates: homemade banana cream bread, homemade mother mass and bagels. I took a roasted bagel with a hard egg and cream cheese, followed by a little blueberry yogurt. I took a PB & J and some banana bread to instruct our host, Jenna.
We understood the rest of our team and coordinate with another hiker called Rocket for a shuttle that returns to the path. The innkeeper, Canaan, accumulated us in his new Toyota Tundra and we left. In the parking lot where we left yesterday, we said goodbye to Canaan and he returned home.
Bourbon Batman and Crocker Cirque Campsite
As soon as we were ready to start walking, a white SUV stopped and asked about our missions. Bourbon Batman is his name and is the local police chief, as well as an angel of trails. Later in the season, when more hikers appear, it usually has a soft drink and beer refrigerator in your vehicle to leave. It was 8 in the morning, so this did not hurt.
We separated with Nema Rocket and started walking directly uphill to our first 4,000 feet of the day. The days after the city are always sleepy for me, but we were progressing. We arrived at Crocker Norte and South before lunch and stopped to take a snack before descending.
Lunch was at the crossing of Crocker Cirque Campsite. We find some noblest telling us that we are the first suns that have been found. There are definitely at least four in front of us now, they must have been surprised. The rest of the day was a taste of the rest of Maine and New Hampshire. I think we can officially say that we are in southern Maine. The steep slopes followed by the descents were difficult, but manageable. It will simply become more intense from here.
200 miles!
We arrived 200 miles today. We are not moving impressively fast, but the rhythm we keep is perfect for what we are getting. After arriving at Spaulding Mountain they leaned down and establish our store, some other nobles arrived at the camp here too. It seems that our solo camp streak is coming to an end.
Two of the people are from Rangelley, I, one of the next cities where we stop for a resupply. The other girl, Bubble Wrap, is from New Zealand and is about to finish her triple crown. That is the Pacific Crest Trail, Continental Divide Trail and Appalachian Trail. He is in a two -year sabbatical work (American companies would never do so) and travel the world doing some incredible and inspiring adventures.
Tomorrow is a day of 10 or 17 miles depending on how we feel. My knees were fine at decrease, which is a welcome change! Maybe my path of path arrives after all.
