This morning my tent looked shiny, completely covered in frost. The ground around my tent was also frozen. But when I entered an area with light tree cover to dig a cat hole, it wasn’t freezing, just wet. So I guess it wasn’t too much below zero. I’m glad I left my water filter next to me last night. There were also a few drops of moisture on the floor of my tent, so it stayed above freezing.
It took about 30 minutes of walking before we started to warm up. Firefly stopped to answer the call of nature. AKA and Mirthful got going a little later. So I walked to a sunny area to stay warm. It also had a view of the valley. I could thrill the wild while I wait (in other words, more suspense dance practice).
Firefly and I were finally starting to warm up as we approached the meadow where Spinola Creek originates.
Crossing Spinola Creek near the lake/meadow where it originates.
Firefly said the weather forecast doesn’t call for more rain until next Saturday. That would give us six dry days to cover some ground.
Today there have been beautiful views all day. I’m letting the photos tell the story…
Cathedral Rock from near Cathedral Pass
The view from Cathedral Pass

Approaching an almost dry stream. I wonder what it will be like when all the snow melts and the water really flows.
When we got to the creek, it was low enough that we could cross it easily.
Just after these almost dry stream crossings, we stopped in the sunshine for lunch. But shortly after stopping, we lost the sun, so we continued walking after a short break.

Taking advantage of the dry and sunny flat terrain for a rest and a hot snack (a second lunch)
Lakes of deception

Cheerful and AKA. I love the joy on their faces!
Glacier Lake with Glacier Peak in the distance
Glacier Lake and Glacier Peak again as the sun set and we approached our camp for the night.
And at camp, the full moon nicely illuminated the rocks on the other side of the lake, leaving the wooded areas in darkness.
Full moon illuminating the hill on the other side of the lake. The light areas are rocks and the dark areas are covered with trees.
We are now less than 200 miles from the terminal! Our plans are to go to Leavenworth tomorrow.
Our camp the next morning (my tent is already full)
