DAY 35 - TO KELSO VALLEY RD

Kelso Valley RD title
Excerpt I found Swampwater and Scrodo waiting there. They waited and made sure they had the water and food I needed.

24 miles
From Trail Camp in Road to Millers Spring (Mile 594.1, UND 4987)
To Kelso Valley RD (Mike 617.1, UND 4959)

Walking in the morning, I found a good place for a short break to about 30 yards on the path. I left my backpack supported against a rock next to the path, and just when I was sitting, I hear a couple of voices. One of them is Swampwater, who seems excited about what he found: my backpack.
«Is that oatmeal?»
He asked me if I had water that could forgive. He was not desperate, but his spring walk would be more comfortable with a little more water.
He had leaked more than he needed the night before, so I gave him most of a liter.
The other hiker commented: «The path provides.»
Swampwater responded quickly: «No. oat tea provides.» He remembered other times when he had supplies or knowledge that was useful.

The 600 mile score appeared shortly after my rest

There was only a good water source along the first parts of today’s walk, in Robin Bird Spring. Since it also made a lot of heat, everyone seemed to gravitate there for lunch. I told about 25 hikers in spring, sitting, lying down and enjoying the company of the other. He felt festive, except that no one had energy to do much more to sit, go to bed, eat and talk.

Most hikers planned to wait there during the hot half -day hours and leave around 3:00. But that would have made it difficult to meet my friend today, so I challenged the sun and left around 1:00.

Eating additional food The last days left me a little short with snacks. Iris offered me one of his RX bars, which I appreciate very much. I did not think that the pair of one hundred calories made a physical difference, but in the last miles, bite an RX blueberry bar provided an emotional impulse.

Later, I arrived at the detour where most hikers planned to camp. I found Swampwater and Scrodo waiting there. They knew that I was very close with plans to move on, and with water and camp only a distance shirt for them, they waited to make sure they have the water and food I needed. They didn’t need to do that. He was very friendly from him.

With view of Kelso Valley

I think I see a path … Is it where my friend is?

My friend, Becky, and her Labrador Retriever, Grace, provided magic of trails in Kelsey Valley RD for a couple of hours before getting there (a pet friendly dog does incredible things to the spirits of tired hikers … and Grace is lushly friendly). Becky wrote about his experiences as an angel of trails, which I will publish in another publication.

I only know that the afternoon walk was longer than I expected. From the beginning of the PCT, I had been pressing me to complete the necessary miles to meet Becky, whose work schedule did not allow much minute flexibility. Reaching Kelso Valley RD meant that my body, not as tired as some, could finally rest a little.
