Finally it was time to leave Lake Isabella and to return to the path. But while Becky drove back to Kelso Valley RD, he wanted to bring more magic of trails. Then, before leaving, we go to the city of Lake Isabella for gas (for the RV) and the ice cream sandwiches (for hikers, to complement what Becky has not given a few days before).
More Trail Magic
When we arrived at the beginning of the path in the early afternoon, it definitely made the hikers appreciate all the cold (as well as the shadow of the RV awning). Mike and Kathy also went out to provide magic of trails, so hikers obtained a double dose.
My favorite verbal exchange was listening to Becky describe the flavors of the ice cream he had and asked a hiker if they wanted all three.
«Yes! That would be great!» It was the anxious answer. The freezer in the RV did not work as he should, so Becky was happy to give as many ice cream as he could.
Shortly after 3 pm, Becky and Grace left. I admit that I was a bit melancholic. The previous days had been much easier and more relaxing. Now the reality established in the sense that I had to walk once again.
But that did not mean that I had to do it immediately. There was still more magic of trails, and Mike Unidirectional made fresh guacamole. Finally I left around 4:45 along with many other hikers, hoping to get a few miles on that day.

Places like this reminded me why I was on their way
After a few miles, we passed the 1000 km score and celebrated with the whiskey miniatures (Unidirectional Mike and Kathy) and some music (I took the guitar). I felt that I had some energy along the way and could be capricious. Those zeros helped.

Celebrating 1000 km
I ended up walking a total of 7.5 miles that night, and camped near some Joshua trees with bears bait and LP. From our altitude, we could look over the desert near Ridgecrest and see a ray in the distance.
