Day 4: Epic Trip Up Georgia Pass

Start on day 4

I woke up with the wind and clouds. I definitely expected a stormy day, which is never ideal. Fortunately, the weather remained and had a good walk through some open fields. My first climb of the day was 1,000 feet and then until the passage of Kenosha. In general, a fairly pleasant beginning for my day. The elevation is still having an effect on me, but I hope that was in the next few days now that I am living more than 10,000 feet.

First epic opinions about Georgie Pass

After Kenosha’s pass, it was time for Georgia Pass. The climb began quite gradual and did a good pace work to maintain low heart rate. Listening to Bill Simmons and Ryen Russillo dissecting the truly heinous squads in the NBA while climbing was a great distraction. Podcasts have been a lifeguard in large climbs. The final mile was above the tree line and approached 12,000 lift feet. My legs felt heavy between the sun and elevation, but absolutely impressive views made everything worth it. I’ve never seen anything like that in person. Truly the pleasure of a king capable of contemplating these peaks while doing what I love.

I spent a few moments at the top of the pass reflecting on how lucky I have to be here. Without the support of so many at home, especially my wife, I could not exist at such an incredible moment among the peaks.

In the descent, I met two hikers with whom I have been walking from time to time. Sprinkler and Anthony. I have really enjoyed your company. We learned a lot to each other on and off the road. Something about being here really draws social walls. I know people on a personal level in a way that I cannot take in the real world. I am camping tonight with a large group in the Bifurcation at Middle of the Swan River. Today was a great and satisfactory day along the way.

Pink, spine and sprout

Rose: Opinions in Georgia Pass and conversation with Anthony in the descent. It is surprising how fast you know someone along the way.

Thorn: The elevation, once again. It is really humiliating. I came here feeling very prepared based on training walks and a past walk, but I have to work for each lifting foot.

Bud: Brekenridge tomorrow! Real food! A bed! A shower! LFG !!!
