Day 41: Stratton Mountain – The Trek

A storm advanced last night. We are becoming more accustomed to sleeping in shelters, especially when the weather is wet.

Early in the day, we officially pass the 1/4 track mark. We have achieved more than 550 miles and a quarter of the path. We have a good rhythm, and I would say that we are officially established in life along the way. While it is not easy, it is worth it. Even after all this time, miles and elevation, sometimes I still fight uphill. The muscles in the back of my thighs have a fourth sensation that finally disappears, but it is always quite constantly there. With luck, I will continue to strengthen and conquer the hills a little better.

We ascend Stratton Mountain, which is home to a ski hill. We were not close to the portion of the complex, but we were able to climb a tower of fire. The views were mostly cloudy, but we had some views of views. The views are becoming increasingly intermediate.

The rest of our day was very similar. I am starting to get tired of listening to music, although it helps to happen a little easier. I miss some of the unique bird songs from the north to the north, but the land and vegetation remind West Virginia and the middle Atlantic.

We stopped at night at Kid Gore Shelter. There is supposedly a beautiful dawn here in the morning. We met a group of five other hikers and exchanged information about the next respective sections. It is always very nice to camp near other hikers.
