Day 5: City day in Brekenridge!

Day 5 and I went to the city at night

I woke up early because it’s a city day. Nothing takes me out of bed … the store as an opportunity for hamburgers and beer. Anthony and a couple of other hikers left a long time when I woke up. Clearly, the call of the city is strong for all of us.

The day began with a moderate climb. On the way I passed what I suppose it was a Boy Scout Troops rupture camp. Easily 20 people at the party. It seemed very fun for that team. Future Outdoors People that catch the early error. I love seeing it. The climb became a bit difficult because it was hard for me to go through a pace. I can’t emphasize enough how strong the attraction of Burgs and Brew can be. Towards the top I had the pleasure of hitting Skywalker and his dog Maddie.

People make the path a magical place

Skywalker is an incredible person who has lived outdoors. The PCT has walked, has touched the highest point of the 50 states, and is in the middle of a CT section walk. For about four miles we talked about the family, the outdoors and life in general. Honestly, the best four miles on my trip so far. His Maddie puppy was also a real soldier. Aging and continuing to crush miles. We broke for lunch in a bank about 6 miles from the beginning of the path. It was a beautiful view and a good way to limit a memorable interaction.

After lunch, I got a PEP in my step. I was and boarded the path mostly downhill to highway 9 and salvation in Brekenridge. I arrived at the bottom, ran to the bus station and waited about 25 minutes. Luckily, the path provides, and Skywalker stopped with his puppy, Maddie, and his partner, underground, and took a walk in the shelter. I will remember this day for a long time.

City time … the best

Once I arrived and said goodbye, I showered, I washed a little and finally I could chat with my wife and children. Such relief talk to them and see their faces. I worried that I made me nostalgia. Instead, I feel revitalized. I am here to show my children how to establish a goal and continue. How to challenge yourself and take care of yourself. Seeing them reminds me to continue pressing.

I am currently sitting in a bar, hamburger on the road and a sour pineapple in my hand. I have some more tasks in the city before returning to the shelter and sleep in a real bed. Truly notable day on the road.

Rose, Bud and Thorn

Rose: knowing Skywalker. Incredible boy. I hope that when I approach your age, I find a way of living as you have done. He also gave me excellent tips to bring children to outdoor activities. If I am lucky, our paths with a cross in some more segments this walk.

Thorn: It feels incredible to say … nothing

BUD: They rebuke me physically, emotionally. I am looking forward to putting my feet to continue tomorrow.
