August 19 – Blue Mountains Trail, Ne oregon
Eggs and rocks
Today was a walk to Table Rock Lookout, then through the Monument Rock desert to the S FK Burnt River. But first, Jessie prepared a full breakfast of eggs, dolls and sausages. More Gatorade. His nephew also loaded my phone and filled me with all the water I needed. What incredible magic! Given the lack of water ahead and the warm climate, I supplied and had 4 liters when I left ALK flat CG. My package was heavy! Despite that, he felt good to get to the road (well, actually) after a cold night. He put himself at 30 for the first time, and Silly had left my silk from my store so that I could look.
I hoped to visit with the viewpoint parked in Rock Table, but I saw her driving while I was about to leave. However, I went up to the observation to admire the view. The funny thing is that Rock Lookout table is 7,826 ‘, exactly the elevation of my home in NM, although it definitely has the most expansive view. It was good to look at the Elkhorn mountains, apparently so far, that I would be walking next week.
Table rock lookout, overlooking Monument Rock Wilderness. The same elevation as my house in Nm.
Monumental exploitation
I could not find the beginning of the path on the Monument Rock Wilderness, which was a bad omen for the path that was supposed to continue there. I started along the way, knowing for my GPS that I was essentially on the right route. About half I found the bed of the path, but I almost wanted to have not done it. In fact, it was more exploration after fire. And it was not still sure if it was worth the additional effort to try to follow a path through the trees disaster.

What is the best strategy here? Through or around?
Fortunately, I was just a few miles from Monument Rock. I wasn’t enjoying it. And I kept hitting my left pimp in dead branches pointed in the low trees, giving it a recurring wound. At least he brought a lot of water! When I reached the lower desert limit, I felt quite angry with hiking conditions. But it is not angry enough to tear down the path of the path and shoot it full of holes, as someone had done it.
Burnt South Fork Burnt River

It was a long walk exposed to the river. But it was an easy cruise. I definitely wanted to camp along the river, and knew there were some camps there. Or at least there were ghosts of camps. Only one of the four camps seemed to be a real camp. I went up to him and next to what used to be Mammoth Spring CG, which had my holy grail of the camp services: a picnic table! Only one. And that’s all I needed.
It was relatively early, only 5 o’clock, so I really had one night to enjoy my camp. I washed in the river, despite knowing that there were uphill cows. He felt great to get all the dust and sweat from me. A deer and two cervatillos came to visit. And I went to sleep at the river sounds.
