Day 60: Sunrise Mountain – The Trek

Today was our day. Finally we leave the motel. We have been enjoying the rest of the rest, but unfortunately it is time to move our bodies once again.

Nick contacted a transport driver to pick us up at 8 in the morning. Lihat juga source 1. I was able to eat a banana and an apple puree, there are not enough calories for this walk, but I will have to do it while my appetite begins to return.

It is the last day of more than 90 degrees in the forecast, so we would have to take it easy. I am sure we have been dehydrated and malnourished. We did not have a specific plan for the day, just to see how many miles we could handle.

I was moving at the rhythm of a snail, but somehow we achieved almost 3 miles in our first hour. The terrain is flat and easy. It is a bit bittersweet. On the one hand, we feel terrible, so the easy walk is welcome. On the other hand, in different circumstances, we could really be crushing some miles. Oh good.

We found a fresh pavilion at the top of Sunrise Mountain. This was followed by the culver Fire Tower. We sat down this for a while for a break. We were almost in Branchville, where we would have lunch, but first I needed to sit and have some food and water.

Day 60: Sunrise Mountain – The Trek

We stopped at the Tavern of the Mountain House. I obtained a César salad with chicken, and Nick got the special fish sandwich. I couldn’t finish my entire dish, but I got a little substantial.

As soon as we left the restaurant, everything was uphill. We had reached the heat of the day, and nothing was well with any of us. I was fighting so hard to move and took frequent breaks. We were going to try to push 18 miles, but at this point there was no shape. We both feel done. We made a total of 12.5 miles and stopped in a shelter. The only advantage is that this place has some of the best water we have seen in a long time since the lack of rain had been established.

It was only 4 when we stopped for the day, so we installed our pads and took a nap. We couldn’t endure eating more food, so we call it a night at 8. Happice, this funk will shake tomorrow. Unfortunately, we will not get to PA by the end of the month.
