Day 74: Recover the heat dome

We evaluate heat damage. It was not inconsequential. Three days of walking in a 100 degree climate had taken its toll. I was covered with heat eruption, some so bad that I could not move without pain. The historian felt very weak. We decided that it would be reckless to try to walk again. Heat exhaustion is real and can be dangerous. We did not want to finish our walk or put others at risk if we needed help. Intelligent walk. Our kingdom for the day

I filled our shopping cart and took a lot. Finally, I was satisfied. Not too much, but much of what we wanted.

The groceries arrived perfectly. Our buyer had called to see about apples. They were only available in 3 pound bags. I asked if I could use additional apples and she said she could. We took three for us, a lot to take and gave him the rest. It was a good commitment.

Our main food

Rehydrate our dehydrated pork with green tomatoes. We add this to a salad. It was very satisfactory.

We delight in wet food all day. Watermelon and other fruits were particularly satisfactory. After days of bad calorie consumption due to heat (except our path of the way!) It was good to be able to eat and not be nausea.

Et call home

When I was on the road in 1975, we communicated mainly. When I arrived in the city, I was looking for a telephone booth and called Family Collect. We had to keep the calls short since they were very expensive. If I remember correctly, it was approximately one dollar per minute. We do not call home on the salary phone, but we take the time to communicate with the family. The support and love of the family have not changed since 1975.
