Day 75 – More Trail Magic

I cannot believe that they have spent 75 days since I put my hand on the border wall to Mexico, and I began to walk north on the PCT. I am not disappointed or very excited where I am 75 days later. In fact, I am strangely, almost exactly where I thought it would be. The difference is that I thought that I would now begin to do some of those huge days of mileage that I had seen youtubers do in the past once they hit in northern California. What I found is that the great days of mileage really exhausted me and affected me for several days later. Yesterday, I made my first limit of 22 miles imposed by itself on the day. I stopped after 21.8 in a camp before 6 pm. Part of my brain could not believe that almost 3 hours of daylight went, time in which I could be walking, on the table. The good news, perhaps, is that I crashed early, and crashed hard. I hope the dream gives me energy to make an easy 22 again today. I would like to reach a point where I can do 22 miles consistently and feel that I have a little in the tank, and then stretch it a little at the same time. I do not want to return to the stage where in the afternoon, I feel that I have finished and I no longer want to walk that day. I am sure that this problem is not so unique to me, from talking to some of the hikers on the + 40 side, it is beautiful, common with all of us safely.

The good news for me is that today’s path, at least according to the distant elevation map, is quite soft. There is also a lot of water near the path, so you should have some good places to take breaks. I have been trying to use further, especially reading the comments, because in fact they are useful. Sometimes, for example, there is an area on the path today that should arrive this afternoon, where the blows and brush and excessive growth are so bad that all comments recommend giving a walk on a walk through a section. That is great information to know, and very valuable. On the other hand, yesterday there was a comment on a water source that said it was the last in the path of the path for 17 miles. I panicked for a moment, not wanting to deal with a 17 -mile water transport, but when I looked more closely, I saw that there were many water sources, and all at 2/10 from a trail of the path. Someone took the time to publish a technically precise, but useless comment. I’ve definitely seen worse, comments, much worse, advice, but for some reason, that bothered me.

Despite early camping last night, nobody happened to me. I did not expect them to give me where I put myself with my late beginning on a day of 8 miles two days ago. I really enjoy having the way for myself, but I hope to see some more people today as a great mile gang catches me this afternoon.

If everything goes well and today in my 22 miles. I will be only 18 or 19 miles from the road where I can get hooked to Quincy. The challenge is that tomorrow is July 4, and I don’t know how it is possible to get hooked in Quincy, get food and be on the road again. What I can try to do is a camp near the road, and then hook Quincy on Saturday morning, July 5. I will see how it goes today and tomorrow, and solve it. I think I remember reading somewhere that there are many paths of trails in Quincy. I do not want to break into its plans on July 4, but if I can come to the city on Saturday morning and get a fast shower and laundry and the grocery store, run and return to the path, I would be quite ecstatic. And, of course, that reminds me that I have an idea of zero where the next replenishment is after Quincy. I suppose it is quite easy to understand, but as they should know, if you are reading these publications, I hate to plan it and avoid it as much as I can.

I took a long break to lunch on a crest when I finally found some shadow. I really enjoyed taking longer breaks in recent days, I feel that he is really helping with my walk. Only a few miles later, I was surprised with some magic of paths of the former PCT hiker. A hiker who had happened to me before, Joe, was also there, and we passed for approximately half an hour, eating fries, fresh fruits, hot dog and soft drinks. The height of the host, most of the path in 2023, and lives nearby. He likes to get his dog out of the city for July 4, so he is hanging out next to the path, and everything is ready to delight hikers during the next few days. I still surprise the generosity of people along the way, and I hope to return me, once my own trip ends.

Bridge on the Feather River

I am currently on a short walk through an area where the blows are particularly bad. In a strange way, I really enjoy the Parkour of the navigation exploration, but my feet and ankles are probably happier with the alternative route. Joe and I have the same destination and plan tonight. Campa near a next river and swim. A 22 mile day will arrive for me, and I think something close to 30 for Joe. He is doing great miles all the way north, and this is very likely that I see it
