Today I would mark our midpoint on the road! We hit 1000 miles a few days ago, and now it was time to officially overcome the hump halfway.
We had some ups and downs to start our day. Just before reaching the western term of the Mason-Dixon path, we noticed that the smoke was bruming through an abandoned fire ring. Fortunately, there was a stream right beyond this, so we went to the road to fill our water bags to turn off this fire. This camp is near a road, and who was here left 3 large beer cans next to the fire ring. Many reasons why we avoid the camps near the road.
We stopped at Green Mountain’s general store to take some snacks, and we both asked for cookies and sauce with fries. This second breakfast came to the event.
Finally we arrive at Pine Grove Furnace State Park. To our surprise, there was a beautiful sand beach in the lake! It was absolutely full. We quickly jumped into the water to cool before hitting the rest of Pine Grove oven.
We go to the At Justo Museum by passing the park. There was a lot of history and information on the way. Grandma’s gatewood exhibition was my favorite.

We walk next to the general store where the famous half -gallon challenge takes place. I had planned not to participate due to my already tired gastrointestinal system. After Nick saw my cookies and sauce breakfast and ordered his for jealousy, he also decidedly lost any attempt to eat half ice cream gallon. That is a standard bathtub of 1.5 rooms plus a pint. Instead, we have chicken tenders, fried potatoes, Gatorade and only one tablespoon of ice cream.
A quick rain storm passed when we were finishing our meals. We found a break in the weather and ran through the hill.
The rain did not expect for a long time, and it was poured until we were almost in our camp.
1/4 mile Before Toms ran, the shelter was the midpoint! We finally did it.

What a fantastic trip so far. We discussed our feelings about this while we headed to the camp.
I am very proud of our efforts and so grateful for the opportunity to assume this walk. We met a guy called Kai in Massachusetts that told us that «something inside you will change after reaching half of the middle.» I discarded it as he said, but now I feel that is exactly what is happening. I am ready to keep walking to Georgia!
