Day 81, 1500 miles, Complete Connecticut and entering mass

Day 81: Approximately two miles on today’s walk, my father noticed a tick embedded in the region of the upper left thigh. The tick was not full, but it was certainly linked with a little less than a bruise the size of a pea and a surrounding redness. I removed my tick with tweezers and my dad took the dose of prophylactic doxycycline for Lyme. We are lucky to have it by hand in case we need it at times like this. Today we crossed a road around Mile 8, my father joked saying that if we steal a car on that road, we could be at home in 4.5 hours. We laugh, it is crazy what we are approaching. The climb to the Bear mountain was beautiful. Despite having already walked some miles in Connecticut, the walk to Bear Mountain, and the rest of today was the first time we felt we were back in New England. Once we go down for Bear Mountain, we entered Massachusetts. It was difficult to believe that we were already here. Immediately when entering Massachusetts, we walked through a beautiful stream that reminded us of Maine. He gave us a new energy to realize that we are not far from home now. After the stream, we went up to the crest that involved beautiful mountain views, especially looking north. We did 21 miles today and landed in a beautiful camp. There was enough space for more than 7 tents and we were the only ones there. I could even cook on a picnic table, which was a good pleasure. We had dinner and spend some time and then we went to bed.
