Day 81: Carrera to Harper’s Ferry

We got up around 5:45 and were out of the camp at 7:30, our usual schedule now that the days are shortening. The land remembered Pennsylvania. The rocks do not comply with the state lines!

The morning was quite moody, in terms of weather. It was cold and a little rainy the night before. Such a welcome change, but the rocks were slippery!

Our first stop for the day was in Annapolis Rocks. Nick and I have been here before, but lately it has been good to hit many points of view.

When we were going down the hill, we saw a cat in the middle of the path, breaking down his little face. When we approached, he ran out of scope. It seemed super disheveled and thin, and we both feel so bad for it. I had an extra spam package, so I broke it in pieces and swallowed it. He escaped quickly after the food disappeared.

Right after we continued, I noticed a familiar face that approached us. A very good family friend, Steve found us!

I know he has been following our trip, and recently lunch with my dad and discovered where we were going to be. Impeccable time, too. We were about to cross the I-70 bridge. It is good to see family faces here, and it was wonderful to catch up a bit.

We cross the I-70 catwalk that has signaling for the path of the Apalaches that I have driven so many times.

Day 81: Carrera to Harper’s Ferry

After this transcendental walk, we walk to the original Washington monument.

The rest of our day was a fluid path with some beautiful views and historical references. We didn’t have much time to stop and read the signals because we wanted to get closer as much as we could. We wanted to stretch the day of our city as much as possible.

We meet Catdog again, and she is on the same train as us. Enter the city early and enjoy the loot of the city.
