- 500 feet rise, 1430 feet descent
The feeling of completing Shennandoah settled and our energy washed slowly with the tide of emotion. We only had 3.4 miles to walk, but that felt far.
Sometimes, the completion leaves you with the initial exuberance and then travel you like a rock. It is no different from being voracious and groaning in a sugary, salty and hyperpallatable meal. Oral and oral satisfaction is acute. Then, the wheel belly and the blood sugar falls.
Hiking as a variable spred drill
Our speed and competition in hiking was everywhere today. Fast, slow and everything between. My fitness clock map was actually hilarious.
Usually, fight when we walk because I am a stable pacemaker. The historian walks as he speaks, thinks and shoots ahead. Then, the speed decreases to consider the following thought and once organized, walk ahead. Multitasa-R-Not-US.
I am more like a metronome. I can reduce speed or accelerate according to the terrain, but the rhythm is usually like a clock. Lord, help me, often I have steps or singing music in my head to establish a tempo.
Not today. My rhythm was everywhere. I must say that the historian was very tolerant with his hiking partner this morning.
Wet hiking
Virginia has many swampy and dark areas that have a humid and sad sensation. We experience that in the lower areas of the middle of Virginia, where laurels and water were the main characteristics. The area of umbrellas cataracts was prototypical.
Today there were no laurel bushes to distract us. We start the day with a rocky rock downhill, but we quickly pass into the swamp. It was black, swamp and a little like a fear movie.
In addition to the horror movie atmosphere there was an old woman near 7 feet tall chain link. It was in poor condition and in some places I had openings in the links.
We discussed if the fence should keep things or keep things out. He had the feeling that he needed to monitor everything in case some zombies or aliens were thrown.
Slightly aggressive signaling
Layers in the geography and ancient fence of the chain, there were signs that warn the hikers to remain on the road. These began yesterday after leaving the park.
Being realistic, we imagined that there had been some rude uses of hikers and perhaps the conflict between hikers and local land owners. In the context of our mood and the fence and geography, they felt like trolls on the path that demanded a payment to cross the earth.

Write down
After Murk and Zombie Woods, we left on the verge of a field. The fence continued on the west side. The surface of the path was dirt with a lot of clay. On the narrow clay path was high and humid grass.
We were grateful that I would not have rained much recently. If it had been wet, we imagine sliding in the upper part if the fencing and sliding a mile along the slippery path, straight and downstairs.
One and inside him entered his straight arrow pattern. Near the bottom, the houses were visible on the non -close side. There were fences and barriers that suggested that the owners were not willing to appreciate hikers.
We asked ourselves out loud what kind of rude hikers had caused this need for such strong limits. We were sad to contemplate.
The road
We cross Sloan Creek with a wink to our Maven refueling pack whose name includes Sloan.
After the stream, we went to the busy highway, Virginia 522. On our right there was a small parking lot. On the left, a bus stop post with the BYS schedule for Royal front. Although we were not going to Frobt Royal today, it was great to think that we could travel on the city bus from the path to the city.
We expect a traffic break. Grabbing our posts firmly, we cross the road as quickly as we could and we still didn’t stumble with the yellow line.
Once on the north side of the crossing, we breathe a sigh of relief. We were alone .3 To miles from our goal, the mountain house B&B.
The path follows the road on that 1/3 of mile, but with a beautiful and thick strip of trees between the road and the path. The zoom car sounds present, but visual signals were a peaceful trail.
Home B&B mountain
We arrived at the 7th door, as indicated and turned to the left to follow the path to the north, we went back to the road and climb a block to enter our house of the shelter for the next 24 hours.
We feel welcome before arriving at the building. There was a sign that supported the local library.

Once to the backyard, we were welcome with a large glass of homemade lemonade with sweets. The ice clicks on the glasses in an attractive way.

Inside
When we enter, they told us that we place our dirty packages inside large contractors of contractors to transport them to our room. It was an intelligent idea.
We were assigned the game room. It included an old foosball table and old board games batteries. We did not play the games, but it was a fun theme.
Hang out
After a rewarding shower and finding loan clothes, we spent the rest of the day dating other hikers. The dining room was a hospital with two large dining tables.

When dinner time came, everyone wanted food delivered. I was hot and humid outside. No one delivered, so the hosts kindly offered to transport some of us to the city to obtain a large order of food to take collectively.
We all enjoy that we remove our bellies with Thai food. We had also selected our breakfast preferences included for tomorrow. A meal consumed and the next planned meal, we headed to refuel our bodies with the dream and dream of OD again soon.
