Many shelters include or offer breakfast as an option. In general, there are two camps. Camp 1 is a lumberjack model. Breakfast is abundant with tons of carbohydrates, fat and sugar. Camp 2 is a new model. That breakfast focuses on fresh foods that are difficult to get along the way.

Camp 1 breakfasts generally include drowned pancake towers in real butter and maple syrup. A camp 2 seal is fresh fruit. Eggs are often served in both. Some breakfast include both camps and are typically legendary: think of the quarteway inn or woods, and how we clean today, Mountain Home B&M.

What fruit do you not eat?

Last night, they received instructions to select our entree for breakfast. I chose eggs with vegetables and cheese. The historian selected an exotic pancake and an egg incoming.

They also asked us the apparently strange question: «What fruits do you not eat?» The rhetoric was a bit strange, so it remained in mind. We both said that there were really no fruits that we did not eat.

When we got to breakfast, before our incoming arrived, they presented us tea, coffee, juice and an amazing dish of fresh fruit. I was so excited that I forgot to take a photo to share with you until I had eaten more than half of the offering. Imagine twice what you see in the photo!

After the fruit, our inputs arrived. They were delicious and are hot. In addition to my fruits and eggs, they treated me with high quality simple Greek yogurt (in the upper right of the photo).

Pack

Our hosts had received a replenishment package for our last segment of Virginia. I was too hot and tired to deal with that last night, so we took it this morning.

Our process generally includes the historian who classifies food and I inventory and placed it in our IGB -approved bears bags. We have become quite fast at work, so it was not too exhausting.

Excursionist leaves and dryer sheets

In addition to our food repayment, we had beautifully washed clothes. Soap without perfume had been received only for us, so our clothes did not smell of a evil or perfume from the grocery store.

In the end it turned out that the laundry soap that the shelter used were not chemically manufactured aromas, but quite light, natural, so we would have been well without the special soap without perfume, but it was very kind.

In the rocky mountains, where we live, we call the newly washed hikers «dryer sheets». It is a bit sarcastic, but it is not cruelly understood.

When we are walking, it often smells the aromas of laundry soap very before listening or seeing other hikers. Occasionally, someone will pass us drowned in perfume, but those are generally people where one member of the couple reluctantly follows the other during their «outdoor adventure vacation.»

Above all, it smells like the aromas of laundry that they announce on television. You know about the guy, the actor presses his nose in a pile of laundry and the voice in excess says: «It smells fresh up to 6 weeks after washing.»

What people who do not live around Grizzly bears rarely consider is that soap elixires are usually based on food. Here comes a lime marinist from fresh lemon with a touch of peach. We imagine that bears will settle wisely to each other trying to decide which flavor hikers want.

Transfer to Front Royal Super 8

The shelter was going to be closed for a family event, so we organized to transfer to the super 8 downtown. After packing our food and fresh clothes without perfume in our packages, we take the city from the owners of the shelter.

The Congress Library

As it was still early, our room was not yet ready. We had a charming conversation with the reception employee about the history of the Congress Library. It turns out that she was a fan of history with a lot of knowledge. She and the historian maintained the threads of the conversation for two days.

After about 10 minutes of listening to these two avid history of the story about their establishment and the impact of the war of 1812, I excused myself to work on the blog.

What I heard was that Congress wanted a library of resources that could consult while writing laws. He The library was established In the year 1800 with an opening of $ 5000. During the war of 1812, the British attacked Washington and the library burned when they burned the capital.

To rebuild the collection, the library bought the personal library of 6487 books by Thomas Jefferson for $ 23,950 in 1815.

After selling his collection to Congress for the good of the cause, Jefferson discovered that he could not live without books, so he built a third collection (his original library burned). This library is in Monticello and still offers research opportunities to academics.

To our room and out for food

We enter our room around 1 and leave our packages. Hunger was floating. We decided to walk to the grocery store and obtain food to overcome our refueling and for the city.

On the way to the store, we saw the Chinese restaurant that we had wished to order since the previous night, when it was closed. We made a decision about the food fly and then obtain more food in the grocery store. Perfect hunger logic.

The buffet seemed a little spare when we first evaluated it. What we did not understand was that the owners placed small amounts of newly prepared food every few minutes instead of filling a buffet and letting it rest.

My was good! I worked for 5 weeks in China in 1992. This was the Chinese food closer to the true one I have eaten in the United States. Some of the dishes were Americanized, but some were more like I remember food in China.

Like this morning, I did not get a good photo since I was too busy eating.

Purchases of groceries

Fill at the gills, we go to the grocery store. I was glad to have a cart to hold on to be able to maintain my balance with my stuffed belly that proceeded.

The historian agonized on which he wanted the bowl of fresh fruits. Melons or berries? Sadly, he finally put a mixed -cut melon pack in the cart. When we cross the product section, we saw a mixed melon bowl with berries. Alleluia!

We carefully select the salad to go with our fruit. To that we add a newly baked mother and a little blue cheese. I also got a yogurt room. We were proud of our reflexive purchases. Maybe being full when we arrived at the store kept us on the road.

Only chilling

When we returned to the hotel, we had spent an active day of 10 hours. The city’s tasks are notoriously more difficult than the average hiking day. For cards that transport introverts like us, all visits with others in the shelters are huge fun but also exhausting.

In our lonely, quiet and private hotel room, we closed the door and put our feet and rest. Then we ate a little more. Breakfast is much free.
