Day 82 – Still with the Tramilia

Yesterday it ended up being an «easy» 25. – If there is an easy day of 25 miles. Upstream and Snap arrived at our camp at 4:15, I arrived half an hour later, and Lightning McQueen was about 20 minutes behind me. Upstream thought it was too soon to stop and wanted to go further, but that did not fly well with the rest of us. They definitely remained day to walk, but my feet were shot. How insensitive I have had in the ball of my left foot for almost 2 months is beginning to bother me. I will take a look this morning and see if I can find out what happens. I think it is impossible to make this walk without dealing with some kind of foot problem, and I am not particularly concerned about it. Only something to deal with before it gets worse.

Today’s plan is to walk 8 miles to JJ’s Café in Old Station, and have a good breakfast. There is a lava tunnel / tunnel a short distance, and also right next to the path that we also want to see. After doing all that, we will walk another 15 or less where we will camp at night. That will leave us a shorter day at Burney Mountain’s guest ranch the next day, where we will probably spend the night.

Ancient station

As I said before, I like to walk alone, and I managed to walk only yesterday, and it was fun. But it is also fun to spend the time and eat together, talk about our days and get to know each other a little better. I am finding balance, with which I have often fought in life, so it is good. I was worried about being able to follow the rhythm of this group, but so far I am fine in my miles, and my body seems to be enduring. At some point, I know we will go in separate directions, or at least by separate steps, but for now it has been fun.

It is good to walk in a green forest this morning after walking through burns areas most of the last days. With luck, that means that it will remain a little fresher today as the temperature increases. Yesterday was probably the most deserted day since I left the desert more than a month ago. I can’t believe how far I have come, nor can I believe how much else you have to go. Approximately 320 miles remain in California, then just under 500 in Oregon, and then a little more than 500 in Washington. There is much to think about the coming months, but as I said before, I just need to take it day by day and step by step.
