I ended up doing 24 miles as planned yesterday. I am not sure if it is the heat of the smoke, but the miles are coming a little slower in recent days. Or maybe my breaks are getting longer. The camps at my stop point were right next to the path, which is not my favorite. Fortunately, a hiker happened to me while I had dinner, and the first steps did not pass and woke me up this morning.
Today, I will probably go another 22 to 23 miles, leaving me with five or six in Mount Shasta tomorrow morning. Today there is a great possibility of walking to the road today, but given my rhythm a little slower, +2 long climbs today, I think it is very long. I have enough food for plan A, but possibly I do not have the battery life for plan B. I loaded my battery before leaving Burney Mountain, but it seems that it is possible that I have not completely charged it. The phone is probably well whenever I take calmly in the audiobooks and music today, and my Garmin, which is the only thing that matters to load, is still 30%, so it should be fine. In general, I only come to the city with much more juice on my devices. There is a little load that remains on my battery that I will plan to use for my garmin if necessary. To save a phone battery, I’m going to do something. I have not done in days and I used my phone as little as possible. Of course, I will take some photos and videos, and possibly add to this diary of paths, for the most part it will be in low power mode in my pocket, all closed applications. I thought about turning it off as ultra sure, but I don’t want to turn it on and turn it off all day while taking photos, or check and see where the path was.
Yesterday I burned a complete audiobook, and about 15 podcast the day before. I have heard all the music that I downloaded and Burnie Mountain three or four times. It has been a good distraction of heat and smoke, but it has been a while since I let my thoughts wander inside my head, and strange. In addition, not many hikers around me, so I will have the path for myself 99% of the day.
As I usually do when I planned to stop, I walked to Mount Shasta, where I will take a zero tomorrow
