Approaching Belden
It really didn’t be cold last night, but he felt much colder due to the wind. Nothing to stop the wind in my exposed crest camp. And the wind invested the direction during the night.
The weather is cloudy this morning. Even in the days where there were thunder, it was usually crystalline in the morning.
My legs and my body have felt lethargic this morning. There is not much energy to move.
In a distant, people commented above all the poisonous oak when approaching Belden. My first poisonous oak sighting was in the high 3524. At least here, it didn’t seem to grow above that.
BELDEN
Bethden was a disappointment. I thought it would be a real city. It was just a rather old infrastructure with a door that said that its hours were 12-8. There is no cell service in the city, either. I’m going to try to hook Caribau Crossroads.
Caribú crossing
Finally I got a hitch for the caribu from someone who left Bethden. Caribou is quite small, but at least it is open. Your refueling store amounts to about 4 coffee shelves. But there is a decent selection, and some things have no astronomical price (and list prices!). His hamburger with cheese and french fries were tasty. I also had a conversation with another woman about the PCT. The guy who seems to direct the place is very kind. I am thinking about waste in a shake.
At the end of my cheese hamburger, I really feel much better. I hope this is a sign of things to come. I cleaned some photos and notes of the newspaper on my phone while loading. And then I wasted and obtained a milkshake. It was really delicious. I did my best to savor it.
MORAS AND BUIZING STARS
I couldn’t easily get hooked from Caribu’s crossing to Belden, so I walked the 1.8 miles. But there were a couple of unforeseen benefits.
First, I found some blackberries on the side of the road. They were small but incredibly sweet and tasty. Second, I found a lot of burning stars flowers: the ones that were discouraged were not in flower on the walk to Carson Pass. None of these seemed completely open, but many were partially open.
Blue the color of my fingers …
… not so far
I took 5 Blackberry breaks before entering Creek Chips (wonderful patch in Indian Creek). Then 2 more walks to the camp. And the camp is next to a gigantic scrub. My cold soaking container is almost full of them. Any hole in my hands of the thorns is well worth it.
